Behind the boards
A group of Stamford residents have decided to fight the media battle with a local effort of our own.
Our digital campaign group was created in November 2023, in response to the removal of hostage posters, carried out either by those opposing the movement or city sanitation workers fulfilling their street-cleaning duties.
As the tragic events of October 7, 2023 unfolded, the Stamford Jewish community experienced a profound sense of helplessness. This feeling was exacerbated by the continuous removal of flyers placed around the city by its residents. Flyers we placed were taken down overnight, and our frustration as former Jewish refugees from different countries, who experienced antisemitism first hand, grew. After 30+ years in the U.S., seeing signs of antisemitism here in the United States, made silence impossible.
Inspired by a billboard in Chicago (impossible to be taken down), we came up with the idea of our own billboard in Stamford. Seeking support for my idea, we reached out to the Stamford group of 400+ Jewish residents. Quickly, a few supported the idea of digital billboard, and that got everything moving.
